A heavy wave of unemployment continues to shake the U.S. workforce. This is a challenge, especially for small businesses.

Despite that, during the pandemic, fencing companies have remained open for business. However, that doesn’t mean they are having the time of their lives. While COVID-19 is still present and as the owner of a fencing company, you must make sure that the health and safety of your employees and clients is a top priority.

Below we will share a list of standard operating safety procedures that will help your company adapt to the changes caused by the pandemic.

Keep Your Employees and Clients Safe

CDC confirmed that COVID-19 mainly spreads from person-to-person contact or interaction. We have created a list of measures that you must follow to avoid unnecessary contact.

Best Practices

We advise you to:

  • Wash your hands after interacting with different objects

  • Follow social distancing by staying at a safe distance of at least 6ft away from other people

  • Wear a certified mask to cover your nose and mouth

  • Cover your face before you sneeze or cough

  • Clean and disinfect surfaces you have touched with quality sanitizers that contain at least 60% alcohol

  • Keep track of your health daily

Contactless Service

  • From the initial call, inform your clients that your service is contactless.

  • When traveling to the customer’s property, call them 5 minutes before you arrive and advise them to stay inside until you finish the job.

  • Limit your employees to two per job, if possible.

  • Fence estimates and price quotes can be sent via online platforms such as Viber, WhatsApp, etc. You can ask your clients to send pictures of their fence and its dimensions.

  • Handle payments online, except when the customer is not tech-savvy.

  • Fewer employees should be working on the same project so that there is enough room to maintain a 6ft distance from each other.

  • Before leaving, the fencing contractors should spray the fence with a sanitizer that contains a minimum of 60% alcohol, to ensure they leave no traces of the virus.

Protect Your Staff

  • Advise your employees to self-isolate if they are feeling unwell or are showing signs of COVID-19 symptoms.

  • Require temperature checks and symptom screening every day before starting work to ensure your employees are healthy.

  • Advise your employees to take breaks at different times to limit person-to-person contact.

  • Provide them with personal protective equipment (gloves, masks, etc.).

Additional Sanitation Precautions

Additional sanitation is always necessary to ensure a virus-free workplace. Your employees must:

  • Disinfect all tools and other equipment before starting work.

  • Disinfect materials received from suppliers

  • Disinfect all vehicles before use

Conclusion

Give clients a reason to call you. Show them that you take the situation seriously, and show your dedication to protecting their health. Start with updating your website and social media accounts with all the precautions you’re taking.
